Rishikesh Tour

Rishikesh (also spelled Hrishikesh) is a city and a municipal board in Dehradun district in the Indian state of Uttaranchal. Rishikesh (from Hrishikesh, another name for Lord Vishnu) is a holy city for Hindus located in the foothills of the Himalaya in northern India. It is also known as the gateway to Himalayas and it located about 25 kilometers away from another holy city, Haridwar, and is considered an access point for the cities that form the Char Dham - Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. Rishikesh also translates to mean - The land of the Rishis.
 

Tourism Attractions
Bharat Mandir:

Built by Adiguru Shankra Chrya arround 12th centuray, Bharat mandir is situated in the heart of the old town on the Banks of the Ganges. Detailed account of this oldest temple of Rishikesh are available in anciant record of Kearkhand. The Inner sanctum of the temple has the idol of lord Vishnu, carved out of a single Saligram. In the inner canopy above the idol is shree yantra installed by Adi Sankraya Charya. The original temple was destroyed by Tamur lane in 1398 A.D. Lot of old statues , coins, pots and other things of historical importance were found in recent excavatiions in the premises of the temple.

Rishikund:

 Close to Trivenighat is the most anciant place, the rishikund. Anciant records relate this to Kubz Saint , who was blessed by the Goddess Yamuna by saturating this pond by its water.The pond reflects the temple of Reagent , deicated to lord rama and his wife.

Geeta Bhawan

One of the oldest temple complex in the area. The famous Indian epic Ramayana and Mahabharta are described here on the walls.

 
Triveni Ghat
The main ghat in the town area where most of the pilgrims take holy dip. Every evening hundreds of pilgrims attend the Ganga Arti at the Ghat.
 
Neer Garh Water Fall

Neer Garh is a water fall very close to Lakshman jhula. By car it’s just a 10 minutes drive. The walk from the road side up to the falls takes about 30 minutes. It is a very pleasant walk with lovely nature and smaller falls. The road or path as some would call it is also the way to the small village of Neer. There are no boards to help visitors navigate but when you get to the stairs and small bridge you are there. Five to ten minutes further up you will find a small pond witch is a perfect place for a pick nick. There you can dip your feet or even take a shower in the water fall.
