Project Tiger:

Tiger sightings have become quite rare these days in India, reason being the Tiger killings because of its multitude of medicinal or magical properties that is why tiger trade is very profitable. The overage area of the park was 520-sq-kms in 1986, and a proposed extension of 588-sq-kms is under consideration. Corbett is India's first and finest national park spread along the banks of the Ramganga River, in the foothills of the Himalayas. Corbett was the former hunting preserve of the Maharaja of Rewa and at present is a famous natural hub for White Tigers. Entry to Corbett is strictly regulated and permits are needed from the park administration in Ramnagar. The Corbett National Park is out of bounds during the monsoons- usually from about June 16th till November 14th. Once the park reopens after the rains, the best time to visit is between January and mid-June.
