Sariska
is located in the sharp cliffs of hills and narrow
valleys of the Aravallis some 200 km from Delhi and
107 kms from Jaipur.Sariska Wildlife sanctuary is
marked with dry deciduous forests.The landscape is
dominated with sharp cliffs of hills and narrow
valleys of the Aravallis. The ruins of medieval
temples of Garh-Rajor, belonging to the 10th and 11th
centuries are evident in the Sariska Wildlife
Sanctuary .The sanctuary covers an area of 800 sq. km.
It is a tiger reserve and you can see ungulates in
large numbers and the birdlife is very good and
varied.It is located in the contemporary Alwar
district and is the legacy of the Maharajas of Alwar.
Pavilions and Temples within Sariska are ruins that
hint at past riches and glory. The nearby Kankwadi
Fort has a long and turbulent history.
Major Wildlife Attractions in
Gir Wildlife Sanctuary:
The park is home to numerous
carnivores including Jungle Cat, Civets Hyena,
Leopard, Wild Dog, Jackal, and Tiger. These feed
on species such as Wild Boar and Langur. Sambar,
Chital, Nilgai, Chausingha, Sariska is also well known
for its large population of Rhesus Monkeys, which are
found around Talvriksh.

The park also has good populations
of Nilgai, Sambar and Chital. In the evenings, Indian
Porcupine, Striped Hyaena, Indian Palm Civet and even
Leopard are sometimes seen. The Tigers of Sariska are
largely nocturnal.

in the park are Spur Fowls, White Breasted, Peafowl,
Red Jungle
Fowl,ingfishers, Golden Backed
Woodpeckers, Great Indian Horned Owls,
Quails, Sangrouse, Tree Pies, Crested Serpent
Eagles, Parakeets, Drongos, Sunbirds and Vultures.
The Kankwari Fort :

Aurangzeb once imprisoned his brother, Dara Shikoh is
located within the periphery of the Sariska national
park.
